 PENNSYLVANIA CRIME STOPPERS IS OFFERING A CASH REWARD OF UP TO $2,000.00 THAT LEADS TO THE ARREST OF SUSPECT(S)  INVOLVED WITH A HOME INVASION/INDECENT ASSAULT CASE.
The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop E, Girard Station, are currently investigating a home invasion and assault which occurred on May 6, 2003 at approximately 3:10pm. According to accounts from the victim, who is a 13 year old female, the suspect approached her residence in the 12000 block of West Lake Road, Springfield Township, Erie County. The suspect had asked directions to a local auto parts store and also asked to use the phone. The victim then proceeded to retrieve a phone with the suspect following her into the residence where the assault occurred. The following is a description of the vehicle and suspect:

Suspect Description:

White Male, approximately 5’8”-6’0” tall, with a medium build, short hair, unknown color, cut close to the head, wearing a tan baseball hat with no writing or emblems, suspect did have a short goatee that was brownish/blonde in color. The suspect was wearing frameless sunglasses with a purplish, pinkish, yellow tint.

Suspect Clothing Description:
Tan long sleeve shirt with no collar, 2-3 buttons, blue jeans, lighter in color, black belt and white tennis shoes.
 
 Vehicle Description:
Small black vehicle, believed to be a four door, possibly having a rear spoiler. No other distinctive features noticed.
The Pennsylvania State Police, Girard Station, are also continuing to investigate a prior incident which occurred on March 11, 2003. In that incident, the suspect approached a residence on Keefer Road, Fairview Township, Erie County. The suspect in that in that incident appeared as a utility/service repairman. The suspect claimed that he was looking for another family in the area and asked multiple questions before asking for a telephone. The suspect also followed the victim into the residence before assaulting the 11-year-old female victim. The victim resisted the suspect who fled the scene. 


Suspect Information:

The suspect was identified in this incident as being a White male, 20-30 years of age with short black hair, brown or green eyes, orange “Nike” hat with a blue “swoosh”. He was also wearing dark blue or black coveralls and was carrying a clipboard. No facial hair was reported on the suspect. The vehicle description was also listed as a clean, newer model black four-door sedan.

The State Police are continuing to investigate both incidents and any connections or similarities between the crimes. It is unknown for certain at this time if the same individual committed both crimes. The State Police are advising school districts in the local area of the incidents and providing information and safety tips to students.

State Police are also advising all residents to be alert for any suspicious activity concerning individuals approaching their residences and to speak to children regarding rules and procedures when an adult is not home.
