The Charleroi Police Department in Washington County Pennsylvania continues their investigation into an incident of Criminal Trespass and Theft.

Investigators reported that in the afternoon hours of November 6, 2001, a resident who resides on Third Street in the Borough of Charleroi answered a knock at the door. An individual who represented himself as an employee of the Water Company greeted him. He stated they were flushing fire hydrants in the area and needed to check for brown water. The victim took the suspect to the basement, whereupon the suspect asked the victim to watch the water and told him he would be right back. The suspect never returned and the Water Company informed the victim that there was no one checking the water. The victim contacted the police, then checked his home and discovered that a large sum of money had been stolen.
