The Pennsylvania State Police at Embreeville, Chester County, continue to investigate an incident of Criminal Attempt, which involved an unknown male subject who attempted to lure a child into a motor vehicle.

Investigators report that on August 8, 2001, at approximately 2:45 P.M., a 16-year old girl was walking along Pumpkin Hill Road in West Nantmeal Township. As she was walking, a White male operating a full size Chevrolet pickup pulled over next to her. The driver asked the victim if she need a ride; she politely refused. The driver was persistent and would not take no for an answer. He continued to ask the victim and stated that he would not hurt her, he was a nice guy and she would be safe. At this point, the victim became alarmed and fled into a wood area.

The truck, which the victim described as a late 80's to early 90's and red in color with a broad white strip down the side and black interior, fled the area. It had faded paint and a dent on the driver's side near the rear wheel.

The heat was in the high 90's with high humidity at the time of this incident.
