The University Police at the Pennsylvania State
University, University Park Campus in Centre County continue their
investigation into two incidents of ethnic intimidation, terroristic
threats and harassment by communications that took place on campus between
October 2000 and April 2001.
On October 13, 2000, an African-American woman student, who was then the President of the Black Caucus at Penn State, received an anonymous letter. It was addressed to the student, at the Black Caucus Office on campus. The letter contained a racially offensive comment and threatened the life of the student. On April 20, 2001, a reporter for the Daily Collegin, Penn State's student newspaper, received an anonymous letter at the paper's office. The letter threatened the life of this same woman. The woman received an identical letter on April 23, 2001, addressed to her at the Black Caucus Office. This letter also indicated that a body of a Black male, could be found on a mountain near State College. To date, no body has been discovered. The letter also contained an implied bomb threat toward Penn State's graduation ceremonies; the ceremonies were held without incident. What You Can Do:
