Crime:  Burglary & Theft

Date of Release: May 7, 2001

PENNSYLVANIA CRIME STOPPERS IS OFFERING A CASH REWARD OF UP TO $2,000.00 THAT LEADS TO THE ARREST OF THE PERSON OR PERSONS RESPONSIBLE FOR A BURGLARY AND  THEFT AT THE EMERALD GARDEN CHINESE RESTAURANT.

The Pennsylvania State Police at York continue their investigation into the Burglary and Theft at the Emerald Garden Chinese Restaurant during February 2000.

Sometime between 9:45 P.M. on February 6, 2000, and 9:00 AM on February 7, 2000, an unknown person or person entered the Emerald Garden Chinese Restaurant located in Shrewsbury Township, York County. Entry was gained through a maintenance door located at the rear of the store. Once inside this area, the suspects cut a hole in the drywall and entered the establishment through the ceiling tiles; a mop was then used to cover the surveillance camera. They forced open an office door and rummaged through the area. A sushi knife was then used to pry open the cash register; the suspects fled the restaurant with an undetermined about of cash.

Upon subsequent investigation, it has been discovered that during January and February 2000, similar incidents have occurred throughout Central Pennsylvania and in Baltimore County, Northern Maryland. In all cases, the phone lines were cut at the pole and the alarm systems were disabled.
