The incident occurred on Sunday, February 2, 2001, in the 3400 block of Washington Avenue in Brookhaven Borough. Investigators reported that sometime between January 31, 2001 and February 4, 2001, an unknown person or persons had placed a pipe bomb inside of a vehicle. The owner discovered the sophisticated device and while attempting to move it, the device exploded nearly injuring him. It is unknown if this device is connected in anyway with the Chester County pipe bomb and hoax incidents.
