Crime: Theft, Receiving Property, and Criminal Trespass

Date of Release: February 1, 2001

PENNSYLVANIA CRIME STOPPERS IS OFFERING A CASH REWARD OF UP TO $2,000.00 THAT LEADS TO THE ARREST OF A YET UNIDENTIFIED PERSON OR PERSONS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE THEFT AT VIDEON CHRYSLER DODGE IN NEWTOWN SQUARE PENNSYLVANIA.

The Newton Township Police Department, Newtown Square, Delaware County Pennsylvania is asking the public's assistance in helping to solve a large scale theft at the Videon Chrysler Dodge located along West Chester Pike in Newtown Square. The theft occurred on October 27, 2000, sometime between 9:00 P.M., and the early hours of October 27, 2000.

Investigator reported that the theft involved the removing of approximately 44-tires and rims from new Chrysler Sebring 300-M cars that were parked on the lot. The unknown person(s) appeared to have used an instrument to remove the air from the tires, which then allowed a brick to support the vehicle so that the tires and rims could be easily removed. The suspect(s) left all the lug nuts to the tires at the scene; investigators found no other evidence or fingerprints.

A witness provided a limited description of the possible suspect(s). The first suspect was described as a W/M, tall, thin build, long dark colored hair that was below shoulder length. The second suspect was described as a W/M, short, with a stocky build. Both suspects were wearing mechanic style clothing when they were observed in the parking lot around 1:30 A.M on October 28, 2000.

The value of the theft is approximately $50,000. The dealership is offering additional reward money for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect or suspects.
