Case # 761
|
Crime: Wildlife Crime |
| PENNSYLVANIA CRIME STOPPERS IS OFFERING A CASH REWARD OF UP TO $1,000.00 THAT LEADS TO THE IDENTITY AND ARREST OF THE PERSON OR PERSONS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KILLING OF AN AMERICAN BALD EAGLE. | |
| HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Game Commission, led by Wildlife Conservation Officers, continue their in-depth investigation into the senseless killing of an American Bald Eagle in Fort Loudon, Franklin County Pennsylvania. The eagle, found by residents of Peters Township in Franklin County, was killed and its talons removed either on June 24 or June 25, 2000. Investigators state the eagle was "immature" which means, it had not yet developed its characteristic white plumage on the head and tail. The lab analysis has revealed several clues about the type of firearm used and the time of the eagle's death. Authorities state that the shooting and killing of a Bald Eagle, our national symbol, is a terrible waste of this precious resource; someone out there knows who shot this eagle and someone knows who removed its talons. In support of their efforts, several anti-crime, conservation and hunting organizations have pulled together by offering additional reward money to demonstrate that Pennsylvanians truly care about their wildlife and want to see those who violate the laws protecting it brought to justice.
