The Erie County Sheriff's Department and
Erie Police Department, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Police
Fugitive Apprehension Unit, continue their search for Michael Edward
Akerly. Investigators state that on February 4, 1998, Akerly met a woman at a tavern in Erie, PA. When the evening ended, Akerly allegedly asked the woman to return to his residence with him. At the time of the crime, Akerly resided in an old warehouse located in the 1900 block of Plum Street in the City of Erie. Once they returned to his residence, Akerly became violent with the woman, beating her about the head, face and body during the attack. He was arrested and charged with Rape, Indecent Sexual Intercourse, Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Indecent Assault. When Akerly failed to appear for court, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. His last known residence was in the 12000 block of Macedonia Drive in Erie; he may possbily frequent music stores and recording studios. What You Can Do:
