The Pennsylvania State Police throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania and the Federal Bureau of Investigation continue the investigation into the disappearance, Homicide and search for the body of Ira Eugene Swearingen.

On December 12, 1999, Ira Eugene Swearingen arrived at the Pittsburgh International Airport and rented a vehicle to drive to Uniontown Pennsylvania. Swearingen has not been seen since leaving the airport. He is described as 49-year old White male, with thinning brown hair and brown eyes who weighs 180 pounds and stands 6 feet tall.

A joint investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Major Case Team and the FBI’s Pittsburgh office resulted in the arrests of four individuals in connection with the disappearance of Swearingen. Alexander Martos, Gregory Modery, Robert Petrick, and John Shaker are currently in custody and have been charged with Criminal Conspiracy to commit Homicide, Criminal Conspiracy to commit Kidnapping, and Robbery. Information developed during the investigation revealed that the four men were involved in a plot to abduct somebody from an area near an adult bookstore off the Kammerer exit of Interstate-70 in Somerset Township, Washington County. ----The individual they abducted was Ira Swearingen. Authorities state that after the abduction, Swearingen was beaten and robbed. Information developed then indicates that he was taken to an unknown location and shot to death. The subjects in custody have not yet revealed the location of Swearingen’s body.
