PENNSYLVANIA CRIME STOPPERS IS OFFERING A CASH REWARD OF UP TO $1,000.00 THAT LEADS TO THE ARREST OF THE PERSON OR PERSONS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF RUSTY AURAND.

The Mechanicsburg Police Department, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, continues its investigation into a Fatal Hit and Run Accident that occurred in late October-1999.

The accident occurred on Sunday, (Halloween Night) October 31, 1999, at approximately 10:00 P.M. The victim, 30 year old Rusty Aurand, was struck and killed in the 100 block of West Main Street in Mechanicsburg Borough. The unknown driver and vehicle fled the scene of the accident.

Investigators are looking for a vehicle, which they believe resembles the late 1980’s to early 1990’s version of the Dodge, Daytona, or a vehicle with a similar body style. The vehicle appeared to be dark, probably reddish to maroon in color, with retractable (flip-up type) headlights. The vehicle’s tail lighting appeared in the configuration of an oblong light, overtop a second distinctive oblong light of a similar size on both the right and left sides. There may be damage or marking on the cowling, "stone guard" or undercarriage primarily on the right side.
