Case Facts:  Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward up to $ 1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest of Bennie Earl Barnes. Barnes is a career criminal whose past reveals crimes of violent nature.

Barnes is wanted by the City of Erie Police Department for Kidnapping, Rape, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse and Terroristic Threats. In the early mourning hours of October 25, 1997, Barnes allegedly grabbed a victim at the corner of east 10th and Parade Street in Erie. He then forced here to go with him into a wooded area somewhere between the 200 to 400 block of Wayne Street where he then sexually assaulted her. Barnes then took the woman to a nearby area formally used as a junk yard, placed her in an abandoned vehicle and again sexually assaulted her. Later that day, Barnes is alleged to have lured another female into the same abandoned vehicle where he also sexually assaulted here. Barnes reportedly brandished a knife during the assaults and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Black Male - 45 years of age

6 foot tall

190 lbs.

Brown eyes

Short black hair with a mustache at the time of the crime

At the time of the attack Barnes was wearing a long green military trench coat, black knit stocking cap and jeans.

Barnes is from Mississippi, and had no permanent address, but resided at different location within the City of Erie
