The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop B, Waynesburg continue their investigation of a Fatal Hit and Run Accident that occurred on Interstate 79, Whiteley Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.

On September 9, 2000, at 1:00 p.m., two U. S. Army National Guard vehicles from the 1092 Company C Unit stationed in Moundsville, West Virginia were traveling south on Interstate 79 in Greene County, Pennsylvania.  Both vehicles stopped near the Kirby Exit (Exit # 7), to tie down a tarp that had come loose from one of the trucks.  As two of the Guardsmen worked to fasten the tarp, an unknown vehicle drifted off the roadway striking one of the Guardsmen.  The victim died at the scene.
