The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop D, New Castle are currently investigating the homicides of two adult females.
On Wednesday, August 31, 2005 the women were found near a gravel, unnamed lane leading to a wooded area off Route 168, Taylor Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. The lane is located approximately 3/4 of a mile south of East Cherry Street. The bodies of the women were found approximately 60' apart on separate sides of the lane.
At apx. 11:20 a.m. on August 31, 2005, Tammie Mullins' body was discovered by a person searching for scrap along the lane. The body was in a severe state of decomposition. The date of death has been established between 2 - 4 weeks prior to the discovery. Mullins was reported missing to the New Castle City Police Department on August 5th, 2005 by her husband, although he reports having no contact with her since July 23, 2005.
Mandy Sue Mclaren's body was discovered at apx. 11:50 a.m. on August 31, 2005 by officers searching the area after the discovery of Mullins' body. Ms. Mclaren's death is estimated to be between 3 - 5 days prior to her discovery. Mandy Mclaren had not been reported missing.
Both victims were reported to engage in prostitution.
